Come and forage in Galloway, then join expert forager Mark Williams of Galloway Wild Foods and lots of friends for a party on our beautiful, bountiful coast. Great wild food, like-minded people, live music and foraged tipples. Round up your friends and family then come and explore and meet some lovely people!
Like minded people from across Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, Britain and further afield are encouraged to come and explore, share food, exchange information and party together, enjoying a great night in a beautiful spot with lovley people.
This is not a teaching event. It is intended as a chance for foragers from 'novice' to 'expert' to spend a day independently exploring Galloway, gathering fungi, plants and shellfish as they go. You can “forage” in some of the region's fantastic food shops too if you want, and bring whatever interesting ingredients take your fancy. Meet at Carrick shore from around 5pm to build a fire, share food and have a party.
Galloway Wild Foods WILL be happy to advise visitors on good places to forage, where to stay, travel, camping spots etc (Suggestions of campsites, caravan parks, wigwams, B&B’s, and hotels will be posted on www.gallowaywildfoods.com)
However, you will be entirely responsible for your own arrangements. Galloway Wild Foods is proposing a beautiful spot suitable for paddling, swimming and gathering plants and shellfish, timed for a low tide. NOTE: The precise location may need to be altered, all updates will be posted on the Galloway Wild Foods website beforehand.
Bring: Food (foraged or otherwise), equipment or know-how with which to cook it, drink, chat, instruments, stories etc that you are prepared to share.
Contact Galloway Wild Foods for: Advice on interesting places to forage, how to get here, where to stay, camping only. Check www.gallowaywildfoods.com for updates.
